IN A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, DO NOT USE THIS APP.
Call 112 (National Emergency) or 108 (Ambulance Service) immediately. HomeDoc is not an emergency service and cannot guarantee response times.
1. Not an Emergency Medical Service
HomeDoc by Alogeriatric is a scheduled, non-emergency home healthcare subscription service. It is not an emergency medical service.
HomeDoc arranges regular, planned doctor visits for elderly patients for the purpose of routine health monitoring, chronic condition management, and preventive care. It is not equipped or designed to respond to acute medical emergencies such as:
- Heart attack, stroke, or cardiac arrest
- Severe breathing difficulties or respiratory failure
- Unconsciousness, fits, or severe falls with injury
- Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
- Heavy uncontrolled bleeding
- Any condition requiring immediate hospitalisation, surgery, or ICU care
If you or someone in your care is experiencing any of the above, call 112 or 108 immediately. Do not wait for a HomeDoc doctor.
While HomeDoc offers 24/7 emergency home visit support as an on-demand service (subject to availability and additional charges of ₹3,000–₹4,000), this is not a substitute for emergency services and is subject to doctor availability and travel time.
2. Not a Diagnostic Tool
HomeDoc is a platform that facilitates access to doctors for care and consultation. It is not a diagnostic tool and does not:
- Automatically diagnose any medical condition based on information entered in the app.
- Provide algorithmically generated diagnoses, treatment plans, or prescriptions.
- Replace the clinical judgement of a licensed physician.
- Function as a substitute for formal medical examination in a clinical setting when such an examination is required.
Any health tips, general information, or content available within the HomeDoc app is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice specific to your condition.
For serious, complex, or unclear medical conditions, always seek in-person specialist care at an appropriate clinical facility.
3. Scope of Service
HomeDoc is designed to provide the following types of care:
- Routine health monitoring — blood pressure, sugar levels, general wellness checks.
- Chronic condition management — ongoing care for conditions such as Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, COPD, and others within the scope of a home visit.
- Preventive care — health advice, lifestyle guidance, and early identification of concerning symptoms to be referred to specialists or hospitals.
- Follow-up care — post-discharge or post-procedure follow-ups that are appropriate for a home setting.
HomeDoc is not suitable for:
- Conditions requiring laboratory investigation, imaging, or procedures that cannot be conducted in a home setting.
- Mental health crises or psychiatric emergencies (please contact a mental health helpline such as NIMHANS: 080-46110007 or iCall: 9152987821).
- Surgical conditions or post-operative care requiring wound monitoring beyond a nurse's scope.
- Acute infectious diseases requiring isolation and hospital-level infection control.
4. Doctor Credentials & Verification
All doctors providing services through the HomeDoc platform are:
- Registered with the appropriate State Medical Council or the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India.
- Verified by Alogeriatric for their credentials, registration status, and qualifications before being onboarded to the platform.
- Specialists in their respective fields, selected based on their experience in elderly care.
Alogeriatric facilitates the connection between patients and doctors but is not itself a medical institution. The clinical responsibility for all care delivered through the platform rests solely with the individual licensed doctor providing the service.
If you wish to verify the credentials of your assigned doctor, you may request their Medical Council registration number at any time by contacting support@alogeriatric.com.
5. Telemedicine Guidelines
Video consultations offered through HomeDoc are conducted in compliance with the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI), 2020 and any amendments thereto. Key points:
- Doctors may prescribe medicines via telemedicine, subject to the restrictions in the MCI guidelines (e.g., certain Schedule H1 and X drugs require in-person consultation).
- Telemedicine is not appropriate for first-time consultations involving certain procedures or conditions that require physical examination.
- Video consultations conducted through HomeDoc are subject to the same standards of patient confidentiality and data protection as in-person visits.
6. Accuracy of Medical Information
The quality and safety of care provided through HomeDoc is significantly dependent on the accuracy of the medical information you provide. You must:
- Provide complete and accurate information about your medical conditions, medications, allergies, and health history.
- Inform your assigned doctor of any changes in your health status before or during a visit.
- Not withhold information that could be relevant to your care.
Inaccurate, incomplete, or withheld medical information may adversely affect the quality of care provided and could, in serious cases, pose a risk to health. Alogeriatric and the assigned doctor are not responsible for adverse outcomes resulting from incorrect information provided by the user.
7. Second Opinions
For any serious diagnosis, complex medical condition, or significant treatment decision made through the HomeDoc platform, we strongly encourage seeking a second opinion from an independent specialist or at a recognised hospital.
HomeDoc supports the principle of informed patient decision-making. Your assigned doctor should be willing to discuss second opinions and referrals where appropriate.
8. Limitation of Medical Liability
Alogeriatric is a technology platform operator. It does not provide medical services directly and does not employ the doctors who deliver care through the platform. All clinical liability for diagnosis, prescription, advice, and treatment decisions rests solely with the individual licensed doctor.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Indian law, Alogeriatric shall not be liable for:
- Any clinical outcome, adverse medical event, or injury resulting from care delivered by a doctor through the platform.
- Any harm arising from the use of health information available within the app.
- Any delay in care resulting from the scheduled nature of the service (as opposed to emergency response).
- Any condition worsening between scheduled monthly visits.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that HomeDoc is not a substitute for emergency medical care, hospitalisation, or clinical specialist services where such services are indicated.
